I had this exact same issue with a 2010 plate in 2020. Once car was up to temp it would lose loads of power. Saying that the car didn't feel like a 116bhp motor when running normal.
Anyway I ended up with a code 68 on the dash and after months of the steering rack being intermittent it finally give up the ghost. I sent it to my mechanic who sent it to a specialist in Warrington (camco). These guys deal with ferrari Porche and the likes. I told them to diagnose it, then two weeks I had a call saying they was done.
The ECU was faulty, faulty steering module and a faulty rack. It cost me 950 quid and when I got the car back OMG it's a different car. More grunt and is now pulling like a 100+ bhp motor. Steering is lighter too and feels like a new car to drive.
Only thing is now it's just today blown its first bulbs in 2 years and I've replaced those but it now has a code 26 on the dash and the left indicator is flashing like there is a bulb blown but there's not. Hoping it's something like a dodgy relay.
