First thing to do if find out which engine is fitted, 2007 could be 2 engines
Early cars M47 121 hp - older engine, no DPF fitted (exhaust points downwards), swirl flaps need removing as a precaution (as previous post), timing chain on front of engine, regarded as fairly bulletproof, first in production from 1998, higher car tax band
Later cars N47 141 hp - newer engine with DPF fitted (exhaust points outwards), no big swirl flap problem ? timing chain on back of engine (any problems and engine has to come out), has a history of chain problems due to lack of oil changes ? lower car tax band
Ths main thing with either engine is the frequency of the oil changes, BMW have CBS so it can be 20'000 plus miles before the oil gets changed, which is not good for the longtivity of the engine
Ideally the oil needs changing every 10k or 12 months whichever comes first, at the mileage on the car (150k) if the history is good it should had loads of life left in it
Have a look into which engine it has, check the history, if it makes all good, go and have a good drive then ,make a decision from there
