Hi I have a vw golf 2002 1.4 engine and the bonnet release catch is broke how do I get under the bonnet any help please

If it's just the plastic release handle pulled from a broken area then I have in the past gripped the actual cable end with a set of vice grips and given it a sharp tug.

Sometimes works but I also had to lie under a jacked/raised car and fished around for the catch.

Try the vie grips first.
