Any - Webasto Sunroof - Smileyman

With the demise of factory fitted sunroofs options on so many new cars, it seems the only way forwards is to purchase an aftermarket product.

Has anyone any thoughts / comments about having a Webasto sunroof fitted, using an accredited dealer of course? I know it's not the cheapest of options, but it's almost the only way 'to let the sun shine in'.

Note having a panoramic sunroof is not the same, a fixed slab of glass overhead may look nice, but does not ventilate the car on a warm day - and unless it's very hot outside aircon is just not required.

Both the panoramic sunroofs I've had have conventional opening panels.

Unfortunately Skoda (Rapid/ Fabia), Peugeot, Nissan, Toyota don't offer opening panels on their panoramic sunroofs, to name just a few. Seat do on the Ibiza and Leon, but this requires buying a factory order car, which generally means missing out on some of the better deals when buying nearly new.

Had a Triumph Herald with the factory fitted webasto roof and it was excellent. About the only thing on the car that didn't leak!

Don't forget on some cars it WILL weaken the roof structure.

The only things that have rusted on my 10yr old A8 are the rubbishy metal springy things on its Webasto sunroof. Impossible to find replacements...so far (any suggestions gratefully received).
