Toyota Yaris - New drivers insurance - Steveieb
Thanks for all your help in selecting a suitable first car for my ssns girlfriend.

Found a nice Japanese Mk 1 Yaris auto with 60 k on a 2001 plate.

Insurance quotes are around £1200 but a much lower quote from Debenhams. Has anyone had any experience of this company as they don't appear in Which ?

Assuming this is Debenhams as in the department store I expect they outsource it but unlikley to cause any major problems as they are a well known, repuatble business

Like Alan I thought the name would suggest they are ok. However from a cursory search there are some dreadful online reviews. I have no personal experince of them and the reviews might be trolls of course but it would be worth checking out in more detail before you commit.

Judging by the number of different insurance companies listed on the policy documents page, they seem to have contracted with an insurance broker, rather than one insurance company.

Could have a look at somewhere such as Toyota Owners Club, who offer a discount on insurance through the club insurer (Adrian Flux).

Really appreciate your comments. The Debenhams reviews are truly awful so she won't be taking up their offer even though they are £400 cheaper.

Direct line appear to not like new drivers given their quotes.

She will try the owners club as suggested.

Tried to find Toyota Club insurance but it appears that it is no longer available.

Have you any other ideas? Direct line are the most expensive.

The driver is 33 years old.

Hi, Try the co-op been with them for many years and always beat the "compare" sites for a "branded" policy.

Club Toyota was a brand that Toyota used previously for services such as insurance, roadside assistance, etc. One needs to look for the owners club.

What exactly put you off Debenhams? I'd be tempted to go with them for 1 year and then switch after. When I first started driving Direct Line were the cheapest. But the following year the prices for other companies dropped significantly by just having 1 years experience and no claims.

They are truly appalling and if it hadn't have been for this forum our family woul have been involved in a long battle to resolve the outcome.

The problem with the comparison websites is that inexperienced people tend to accept that all the companies offer the Same cover and level of service.

Thank goodness for which magazine which rates NFU the best followed by Nationwide and Lv

I am looking at the ones that I posted the link to where they have a 78% postive rating.

Bought an Espresso machine once that was Which rated...awful thing with a significant design flaw...wish I'd read the reviews about that first rather than trusting Which recommendation.

I have been looking at reviews.co.uk which gives Debenhams 1 star rating. And loads of bad feedback.

All sorted now with LV
