Hi,
I was waiting like a hawk from the time the new BMW X1 got announced. It looked soo much better than the old one. Now that it is out, I have test driven the entry sDrive18d Automatic diesel and it was just brilliant.
Problem is that I do not want to go for the higher powered (high emissions) petrol versions. Shame that they do not do a ECO Petrol version. So my only option is to go for the entry level diesel. Main thing is, I live very close by to work, so it takes me about 10 mins to get there. I also come home for lunch. So every day, there are 4 short trips, each about 10 mins. Weekends, we tend to do a little more driving, so minimum, we will drive for about 30-40 mins. I was reading about how diesel engines work and about DPF. This is a little worrying. Would you think my current life-style would end up messing the expensive filter?
I really like the X1 a lot and after doing loads of research on other models, my only other alternative is Audi A3 Saloon Auto (1.4 Petrol). The emissions are low, the mileage is good plus it is a petrol. But ya, it is a saloon and not the same as X1. So I really am in a fix, any suggestion/advice will be very helpful.
Oh, by the way I checked both the GLA and Q3. GLA's got amazing interiors but it feels soo cramped inside. Q3 is a little better, but high maintenance cost and standard equipment/space is not as good as X1!!
Thanks in advance :)
