Jaguar XF Sportbrake - New or nearly new car advice - 2010Jagman

Long time lurker but first time poster,

Currently trying to decide on a new car to replace my current company car (Lexus CT 200h) wanting a much bigger vehicle thats good for long distance and around town. this will be my own purchase not a company car.

do about 20000 miles a year and plan on keeping the car until 6 years old.

cuurrently trying to decide between a pre-reg 6-12 month old Jaguar XF sportbrake (sportbrake no longer avaliable new) with the 2.2 diesel.

the other contender is a mid range brand new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

Wondered if anyone had any comments on either car.

looking for either an estate or SUV tyype vehicle as i carry a lot of equipment for work.

Why not see if the dealr can do you a decent deal on a short term lease of the 'old' XF-SB until the new XF_SB becomes available to buy?

They're very different cars: the chances are that if you like one you won't like the other.

I test-drove an Outlander PHEV: it's good at what it sets out to do, but I found it a bit pedestrian compared with my Octavia vRS, let alone an XF. If you're happy with the performance of your Lexus, you'll probably find the Outlander fine.

Had a test drive in both, quite liked the outlander but the 5 year/62000 mile warranty was a bit of a sticking point. only going to last 3 years or so for me.

even Mitsubishi's own extended warranty doesen't cover the hybrid elements, so now looking for a good pre reg XF (new XF range dosent have the sportbrake option.)

They've dropped the Sportbrake ?

Kept that rather quiet, didn't they !

Just been onto their website, and yes, it's no longer listed on there in the new cars section.

The old jag is rather out of date and thats why Jag stopped being the best alternative for may to the German offerings. The XE and new XF on the other hand are total revived with a decent 2.0 diesel engines and super insides showing the German the inside of the car does not have to be boring. Not sure how well they hold their money being the only downside.

While having owned a Jag, i sadly have to I hope the new owner make a more reliable motor. Anyway if you like the Jag ride I would still look at a Mercedes E-Class 250 CDI Blue Efficiency. No heard of many DPF issues and with your milage a good option.

With the F-Pace coming out shortly, JLR probably have the view that the likely sales number of the Sportbrake does not justify the development cost.

"they've dropped the Sportbrake"

One of the ugliest derivatives ever 'fashioned' in my view, along with the Mercedes equivalent and that hideous Panamara.

Brother is management @ JLR and told me it was on the discount list from Day 2... :-)

That F-Pace got some cracking reviews in the weekend papers.

Spotted one in Leamington the other month. Huge great thing. Just perfect for double-parking outside the school gates then!
