Help

My car brake lights do not go off whilst ther car engine is running.

I noticed when reveresed the car towards my white colour garage door that my brake light slightly brightens, when I am pushing on the foot brake pedal.

What could it be. Is it due to weather and a short and what kind of costs am I looking at to have it fixed.

The car value is only £280.00

First port of call is to check all the units and connectors for water. Dry out if needed.

I would check the wiring where it runs from the body to the tailgate through the rubber tube.Very common for wires to fracture and short together.

In addition to the above I would be looking at the brake light switch. It might have a high resistance short when not being pressed giving partial brake lights. Then when pedal is pressed it makes full contact and brightens the lights.
