Ford Focus - ac compressor - muller 1

hi all,

i am new to hj but i do enjoy the q and ds and now im in.

could anyone tell me if it is possible to bypass the ac compressor with a shorter belt on my 02 focus 1.6 zetec ?

the car is a singapore import but i do believe the spec is the same as the uk model.

i can only presume that if it is possible that i would need a shorter belt and a different diagram to route the belt.

Should not be a problem on this car.Remove the compressor and fit a shorter belt.The route is the same.Belt size is 6pk 1733.

May I ask why you want to bypass the compressor. They run the AC when you select demist to extract the moisure in the car. Regards Peter

If you really don't want to use the air conditioning, (and God only knows why you wouldn't since it's the best feature that could be fitted on any car), then why not just leave it switched off? The compressor pulley will then freewheel.
