Any - Stone chips repairs - can they repair deep damage? - csgmart

I have two chips (one is more like a deep scratch but caused by a stone) on the bonnet of my car and as it's on a PCP I need to get them repaired before returning the car.

Both have gone down to the metal (aluminium so no rust) I think so quite deep. Will a 'chips away' type operation be capable of affecting a good repair or is it a body shop job? I guess a lot of it comes down to finding a competent person who knows what they are doing. I'm based in Bristol if any one can recommend someone to do this.

I could leave it and hand the car back as is but I rather suspect I will get fleeced for a repair (they might not then even carry out) so would prefer to get it done myself.

Must be nearly 10 years ago now so things may have changed. l bought a Seat people carrier, which had a number of stone damaged indentations on the bonnet; a couple quite deep. l tried Chipsaway & on the more severe, deeper chips it was a waste of time & money. Ended up going to a competent body shop, who did the whole bonnet.

A lot of the mobile people will not touch 'down to the metal' work, as they will not guarantee a rust free repair. But you should be OK with an aluminium bonnet.

When I got my van bonnet resprayed about 4 years ago it cost £150 at a proper bodyshop.

I've seen some of the 'smart' repair work and none has impressed me personally but, I'm a very fussy customer.
