Citroen Dispatch - Speeding ---- Van - Andy1952

Hi I was on the A47 in a line of traffic going along nicely 60mph

I say the speeding van on my left hand side, but thought nothing

about it only to recive a speeding ticket. !!!!!!!!!!!

I had been driving my Citroen Dispatch for 6 years never having

got a ticket before. Along with this they had put in the same

envolpe TWO notices about speeding in vans.

I sent them back to them saying how I did not KNOW about this speeding limit of 50 Mph. ................ When was this brought in?

Regards

If your van is certain categories, then you are subject to different limits to cars.

That has been the case for a long time.

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse in the eyes of the law.

A simple search for 'van speed limits' pulls up plenty of results and information.

www.gov.uk/speed-limits is the first page on a web search, for me.

Limits for vans, with exceptions for those derived from cars and under 2000kg max weight, have long been lower than those for cars.

Don't think OP has much in way of defence. With luck though he should be offered a speeding course as an alternative to points.

The exceptions also apply to dual purpose vehicles Bromp, of which my twin cab 4x4 (both criteria met) Hilux was one such.

Thanks to DVD who pointed out the relevant references back in 2007 when we bought ours as i wanted it in print in the vehicle in case of any argy bargy.

IIRC the second definition of dual purpose (ie ratio of pax to stowage space) catches out some crewbus types - too much loadspace.

Do you mean you have been sent Two NIP's. You say you sent them back but did you complete then and sign them. Regards Peter
