Ford Focus 2.0 diesel titanium x - ford focus bi-xenon headlights - focusman

Hi

I have a 2015 ford focus 2.0 diesel auto with the bi-xenon headlights.

On dipped beam and looking at the headlights from outside they look really bright, but they do not seem to put much light out onto the road when driving.

In fact they are worse than my last focus which had standard halogen units.

Does anyone know if there is any known issues with these units.

Thanks in advance

Some cars, Ford and VW Group, but not all model/trims are fitted with lower output bi-xenons which use a 25w bulb rather than 35w or higher - this lower light output (2000 lumens) allows cost savings as levelling and headlight washers aren't a legal requirement.

I've been caught with my new VW Touareg as it gets 25w bi-xenons as standard so I didn't tick the extra cost option box for 35w bi-xenons. The light output is worse than my previous Hyundai Santa Fe which had standard halogen bulbs but I'd fitted legal high intensity 100%+ bulbs.

The 25w D8S bulbs can be changed for 35w D3S - BUT - the bulb base cut out needs enlarging to seat properly and - MAY - not suit the beam pattern - this has been done by a Focus ST owner.
