To all you lovely people out there.

Can someone please explain in 'Idiots Form' the correct driving hours and rest per day for an HGV Driver if the Work Contact states 7am until 4am Mon - Fri and 7.30 until 11.30 Sat.

all your answers will be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Yes the working hours are 7am until 4pm Mon Tues Wed Thur Friday and 7.30am until 11.30am on Saturday with Sunday off. So if anyone can explain the driving times and rest periods for these days on a rota system perhaps? I've looked it up and you can't do more than 90 hours over 2 weeks... this is where the confusion lays. Time Sheet states 47hours 45mins for Mon-Sat.

Thank you for any messages of assistance.

90hrs of DRIVING over any two week period. This does not include your breaks during the day, only actual driving. You will never get anywhere near that in those hours of work.

OK. Thank you everyone for your helpful replies.

Have a lovely day.

Recently enquired about a PCV role where the employer stated the shifts were 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. 60 hrs or 120 hrs over two weeks. Surely that can't be legal?

There's a difference between duty hours and driving hours - and it depends on the number of seats together with the nature of the journeys/pasengers.
