New Sirion unveiled

Powered by a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine with 68bhp does 99mph, 0-60mph in 13.5 seconds, 56mpg combined and low 118g/km CO2. 1.3 litre four has 86bhp does 106mph, 0-60mph in 10.9 seconds, 49mpg combined and 137g/km CO3.

1.3 4-speed auto does 102mph, 0-60mph in 12.6 seconds, 44.1mpg combined and 151g/km CO2. Light weight from 890kg to 955kg. Prices from a bargain £6,995 including aircon for basic 1.0 version which is a full 5-seater with 5 x 3-point seatbelts. More car for the money than the Aygo. 3,600mm long x 1,665mm wide x 1,550mm high.

November 2007

Entire Sirion range freshened up from November 2007 with new bumpers and air-intakes, new wheel designs, revised, grippier front seats, plusher cloth trim and improved rear suspension for tauter handling. Pod-like oval speedometer which moves up and down with the height-adjustable steering wheel. Rev-counter and LCD panel in the speedometer showing current and average fuel consumption. External input allowing an iPod or MP3 player to be played through the radio/CD player. Front passenger airbag can now be deactivated.

November 2007

Daihatsu Sirion 1.5 SX on sale priced at £9,495 on-the-road or £10,295 for the 4-speed automatic. Based on Sirion 1.3 SE, SX adds a larger 103 PS 1.5 litre engine, a deep front spoiler with mesh grille, front fog lamps, side skirts and rear tailgate spoiler. Standard kit includes red interior trim, alloy wheels, air-conditioning, four electric windows, driver, passenger and side airbags, a radio/CD player and remote central-locking. Standard Vehicle Stability Control.

Four-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine with Dynamic Variable Valve Timing (DVVT) – similar to that fitted to the new Materia mini-MPV and Terios mini-SUV. Maximum power is 103 PS at 6,000 rpm with maximum torque of 97.4 lb ft at 4,400 rpm for flexible, effortless acceleration and cruising. Top speed is 109 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 10.1 seconds.

Five years unlimited mileage warranty plus five years’ UK roadside recovery introduced.
