Is it okay to paint brake calipers?

My daughter has an Abarth 595. She wants to paint the brake calipers red. Is that safe to do? If so, what sort of paint is needed and are there any special precautions to take?

She has to use special high temperature paint. Sperex HTP is one brand. You can get high temperature paint for this sort of job in Halfords. Mask the callipers very carefully, as well as the surrounding car bodywork, because overspray won't come off the bodywork.
