Last year I bought an Audi TT roadster, 1781cc, quattro on a 55 registration, (25.1.06), mileage approx 13,000. In July this year the orange warning triangle appeared and the local independent Audi garage who had serviced the car in February advised that it was a faulty brake light switch. This was repaired (part £28.50, labour £25 and diagnostic £25), a few days later the orange triangle warning light appeared again. I was advised that it could be one of two things - brake light sensor costing c £60 or the master sensor costing c £1250 plus labour. Fortunately it was the less costly repair( part £86.50, labour £100). However the orange warning light has appeared intermittently since then, each time clearing after the car has not been driven for a day or so. The letter in this morning's Daily Telegraph referred to a know fault on Golfs and Audi A3's. I checked the ECU testing web site recommended but could find no mention of 2005 or later TT's. Please can you let me know if this fault is likely to affect my car? The car has now covered just over 20,000 mainly over medium - long journeys ie from 40 - 300 miles and I had hoped to enjoy it for another year or so.
