I changed my Ford Focus's fuel injector pump but does it need calibrating?

The fuel injector pump went on my X-reg Ford Focus TDI 1.8-litre with the Endura engine. I've replaced it with a secondhand one but still no joy! Does it need reprogramming to match it up with the car?

Did you ensure that the system was "bled" correctly ensuring no air in the system? Also, did you ensure that the pump was timed correctly to the engine?
