My Hyundai ix35 is seriously delayed - what can I do?

I ordered a Hyundai ix35 4WD in May 2010 for delivery in August. I was told in August that the car would be delayed, but that they had a 2WD option I could have for delivery on 1 September. I agreed to this swap and was sent an invoice for the car. The invoice included the registration and the VIN for the vehicle. I paid the invoice on 24 August, well in time for delivery. On 1 Sept I received a call to tell me that as the vehicle was being driven for delivery, they discovered a fault and that it needed to be fixed and a part ordered before I could have delivery. Then on 4 September, I received an email offering either a full refund or another car from stock with a discount.

After four months of waiting and actually paying for the car well in advance of delivery, I am now left with nothing. They have apparently refunded my money in full today. Do you have any advice?

As frustrating as it must be, I don't think there's much the dealer can do. Hyundai are having serious problems fulfilling orders for the ix35 at the moment and there are many disgruntled customers, which is why I'm inclined to believe what the dealer has said. There's a 'delayed ix35' thread running on the forum at the moment that might make interesting reading for you: www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/threads.htm?f=2
