Has anyone found that the Toyota Verso speed limiter causes the car to accelerate on its own?
Our new Toyota Verso has a speed limiter, which I have used quite a lot particularly for motorway contraflows. I used to use the cruise control for this, but with the speed limiter, you can quickly decelerate just by lifting up your right foot - and you feel rather more in control. You override the speed limiter (eg if you quickly want to pass someone) by putting the accelerator to the floor briefly. I have recently found however, that on doing this, the accelerator has a life of its own and takes off even with no foot on the gas at all. Has this happened to anyone else and have you any advice?

I had one complaint from a 90-year-old nutter that his Auris MMT accelerated out of control to 100mph and then crashed into the back of a van. Surprisingly, he survived to tell this improbable story. But this was not a car with cruise control or speed limiter. Your problem might be using the limiter for low speeds that it cannot reliably run at in that gear, so the engine has to run faster to prevent itself stalling. But you should still get it back to your Toyota dealer.
