Can you give me some advice about my wife's Volkswagen Polo's wheels and tyres?

My wife's Volkswagen Polo Dune was supplied new in 2004 with bright silver alloy 71/2 J x 17 'BBS' wheels with 215/40 ZR 17 83W Dunlop Sport 9000 tyres. The nearside alloy wheels have been 'kerbed' and scuffed. I have approached various alloy wheel repairers, but they all say that they cannot restore bright silver wheels. Do you know of a specialist repairer in the South Yorkshire / East Midlands area?

Also, I need to replace the tyres and whilst perusing web I was concerned to read that the fitted tyres are not recommended for driving in near freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. The principal merit of this tyre appears to be anti-aquaplaning. Should I be concerned that this tyre has these reservations on use? Is there a suitable/satisfactory substitute tyre for this car?

These are ridiculous wheels and tyres for an ordinary Polo, but you will be able to get alternative softer compound 215/40 x 17s.
