Will I lose out by trading in my 2008 Nissan Qashqai for something more economical?
I currently own a Nissan Qashqai 2.0 Acenta 2008, which I bought secondhand in November 2009. Currently we get about 35mpg. We mostly use the car at weekends for longish journeys, with the occasional short trip in the evenings. Currently the car has done about 14,000 miles. With the road tax over £200, and filling up the car about once a month, I was wondering if it would be worth trading it in for something with a smaller engine that would fit into a lower tax band. However I'm not sure whether trading it in so soon after buying it would be a good idea financially.

You would lose more by the trading down than you would gain over the next five years' motoring.
