I bought a Ford Mondeo with false mileage - can I do anything?

A week ago I bought (privately) a 55 plate Mondeo with cash. I signed the log book and so on, all the time being led to believe that the mileage was 85,000. I brought the car home whilst waiting for the seller to provide me with the current MOT (and still am..). I was on a website today and found that the mileage was in fact 173,000 miles from its last MOT, which was dated 22/10/09. Can I do anything?

It was a private deal, not a trade deal. But it's still a breach of contract. If the vendor has any assets then it's worth suing him using the small claims track of the county court. If he has no assets, forget it.
