Is it normal for Audi TTs to use oil?
My brother has bought a brand new Audi TT and it is using oil - Audi say this is normal. We have a 142,000-mile Volvo V70 diesel and it never uses oil. I believe it indicates a problem with the Audi - what do you think?

This happens because instead of filling the engines on the production line with recycled oil, as VAG used to do, the engines are now filled with longlife synthetic oil. Unless the engines are revved quite hard from time to time during the running-in period, they do develop a bore and ring problem that results in high oil consumption.
