Are advanced driving courses for new drivers any good?

My son is 17 and passed his test last month. Although he is a fairly good driver, I'd like him to attend some sort of advanced driving course, perhaps with some track work as well as road/motorway. What do you suggest?

www.iamroadsmart.com/ is probably his best port of call. No track driving but plenty of sensible instruction in road driving in all conditions and on all types of road. They are just about to launch short courses covering specific topics so you can pick and choose.
