What's the best high performance 4x4?

I'm looking for a new petrol 4x4 with decent performance and reasonable load space. I've just about settled on a Porsche Macan S, but is there anything else I should consider? I don't want a Range Rover Sport.

The Macan S is what I'd go for. Great looking. Good to drive: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/porsche/porsche-ma.../ The obvious alternative is a Jaguar F-Pace: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/jaguar/jaguar-f-pa.../
