Why does my Ford Fiesta keep cutting out?

My Ford Fiesta has started to cut out while driving. The problem is quite sudden, with the vehicle stopping and all of the lights going out on the dashboard. The immobiliser light will also come on, which prevents the car from restarting. However, if I wait a few minutes, it will eventually restart. I've had the key checked and there is no problems with the fob. Can you shed any light as to why the car is doing this?

Possibly one of the multipin connectors in the circuit. Maybe got some moisture inside. If you can find the right one, the car will run with it separated, but the red engine light will stay on permanently.
