Brake System replacement
We have had the i10 from new. Serviced by main dealer for first three years and this year by a reputable local garage. The Master cylinder has failed, took it to main dealer since car under 5 year warrantee. Main dealer says brake fluid is contaminated and therefore not covered by warrantee and the whole system may have to be replaced at a cost of £4000 - we are awaiting a test on the contaminant. The local garage says this is a ridiculous price and the system could be flushed and only the failed components replaced at a much lower price. What should we do? The repair is more than the value of the car. Your advice would be appreciated.

Fair for the warranty claim to be turned down because the brake fluid was not replaced. But the job can be done a lot more cheaply. However, if the local garage that serviced the car did not ask you if you wanted the brake fluid changed at 4 years old then that was a bit remiss.
