Buying an SUV - would you recommend the new Tiguan?
I am considering buying a new, or nearly new, medium-sized SUV and am contemplating the new (2016) edition Volkswagen Tiguan. I have owned Volkswagens before and generally hold them in high regard.
How do you rate the new Tiguan to other similar SUVs? I have never owned a diesel car, for various reasons, and am tempted to opt for a petrol model. Which would you recommend?
If you would suggest another SUV in preference to the Tiguan please advise what it would be.

It's a lot better than the previous Tiguan, but very expensive and has not been problem free. See the entry in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ If you like VAG, a SEAT Ateca is better value. Alternatively, a Mazda CX-5, Honda HR-V, Renault Kadjar, KIA Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Suzuki Vitara, BMW X1, BMW X3, Audfi Q3...there are a lot of alternatives.
