Hit has speed bump - have I damaged the underside of my car?

I was driving home last night and where I live there's like what you call a raised bit in road to stop people speed. Anyways there have been bits of broken tar in road and when I drove over the raised bit I hears a bit of a scare noise from under my car. When I got out to investigate there was a biggish peice of tar on road it sounded like it scraped from the middle to back of car underneath. How protected are the MK3 Focus and would it of done any damage?

You'd better get it to a garage who can put it on a ramp and have a proper look underneath. You should never straddle a speed cushion. Destroys the tyres. You should slowly drive one wheel over the top and one wheel on the flat to avoid damage to the car.
