What's the best estate car for £26k?

The last two estate cars I have owned (for 10 years and eight years respectively) have been Volvo 850 diesel and a Saab 95 diesel. The latter is giving me DPF problems and I am thinking of buying a new/nearly new estate. I now only do 10,000 miles a year and petrol options are limited. Can you recommend a reliable, largish, car that is cost efficient to run for a maximum budget of £26k?
