Has Volkswagen sorted all of the DSG issues?

I remember reading about several issues with the Volkswagen group DSG gearbox. I recall many saying they were best to be avoided. However I believe this was the previous sven-speed incarnation, and the current six-speed version has addressed these issues. Is this the case? If not, what would you recommend?

The six-speed wet clutch maintenance DSG is reasonably reliable as long as the fluid is replaced every three years. Same goes for the longitudinal seven-speed s-tronic in Audi A4s, A5s, Q5s, A7s and A8s. The problem box was the seven-speed dry clutch no maintenance DSG fitted to lower powered engines.
