Am I being ripped off over my brake disc replacement?
In April 2015 I purchased a Nissan Qashqai with 12,000 miles on the clock, from an authorised Nissan dealer. When I booked the car in for its first service 12 months later, having done 10,000 miles, I was advised that the rear brake discs were badly corroded that needed replacing at a cost of £285.
When I challenged this I was advised that this was a common condition caused by road conditions such as salt and spray. When I insisted that this must really be a quality issue and not a result of normal wear and tear the garage reduced the cost by £50 but still maintained that this was a normal occurrence.
I immediately took my car to an independent specialist who denied this was true. They also said the brakes had not been cleaned out and greased as one might expect at a service. Am I right to feel that the dealer is trying it on?

That's disgusting treatment and should not have happened within two years of new given that the car was regularly driven and covered 12,000 miles in its first year and 10,000 miles in its second. Tell the garage you bought the car from that if it doesn't replace the rear brake discs FoC as not being "of satisfactory quality" you will take the matter to the small claims track of the County Court.
