Which small autos are the most reliable?

I want to buy a secondhand Toyota Yaris automatic for £2500. However, I'm struggling to find one, are there any other automatic car makes and models that are similar to the Toyota Yaris that have reliable auto gearboxes?

Yaris autos were good from 1999 to 2005, bad from 2006 to 2011, then not too bad from 2011. That leaves a big gap where your money fits. Do not buy a Yaris Mk II MMT. I don't recommend any other small autos that might be in your price range apart from the Daihatsu Sirion that had the Yaris 1.3 engine and autobox.

Fairly big boot by class standards, tempting hybrid option, Toyota has an epic reliability record.
