Why won't my friend's Ford Focus start?

My friend has a 54-plate Ford Focus TD. He stopped the engine one day and it has not started since. That was six weeks ago. Up to now, six fitters have looked at it and don't know what it is. The car just won't fire up.

There are many things it could be, but basically if your engine has good compression (which one would assume it has) then the only other reason would be the supply of diesel to the engine, or the timing of such. There are many things that could be the problem, such as the engine management system. Did the fitters plug in a diagnostic system to check for faults? I would suggest, to ensure that you do not spend lots of time and money, that your car is taken to a recognised Ford dealership for them to establish what the problem is.
