New car running in?
I'm soon to take delivery of a Leon 1.4 150 petrol, and having never owned a brand new car before, wanted to ask your advice on running it in. Should I stay below a certain RPM for the first 1000 miles, for instance? Being a turbo, is it wise to let it idle after a long run? Any other tips? I presume it will need 97 Ron petrol.

Great car. The main thing to do is not be too gentle. You need to load the engine in the first few hundred miles in order to help the piston rings to bed in because of the synthetic oil they now fill these engines with on the production line. Vary your revs. Try not to take it past 4,000rpm for the first 1,000 miles. Always use Super, preferably Shell V-Power Nitro Plus 99Ron. Make sure the oil is changed after 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first and keep to that oil change regime.
