Ongoing issues with a Vauxhall Corsa that dealer can't solve?
I had my Vauxhall Corsa in a main dealer because of intermittent starting problems. The first time it said the glow plugs were faulty and a new fuel filter was required. A day later it failed to start. Then a new pressure boost sensor was required. After driving 10 miles the fault is still there. I have spent about £340 and the fault is still not cured.
Vauxhall now says it will need a new ECU at £1000. Surely an ECU will give fault codes up and have I wasted £340 replacing items that I didn't need. Am I entitled to review the test report and is there a list of fault codes?

Yes there are a list of fault codes.. They mainly consist of the letter P and then 4 numbers..
Given what the dealer has done so far we would suggest that you go back to the garage, ask to see the customer service manager, and explain to him/her that you are unhappy with the service so far and that you would like to see the print outs from the diagnostics. They should still have them.
Then ask them to explain why if the diagnostic showed up a fault code and they have replaced that item the fault still exists. As for the ECU being faulty again ask why ,what are the diagnostics.
In addition ask them why they do not remove the ECU and send it away to be tested/repaired. This can be done for approx £200. Let me know what fault codes they did /have found.
