A new or nearly new small car?
I am looking to buy a small manual petrol crossover. Average mileage per year would be about 7500 miles. Mix of 50% town and 50% motorway. Needs to have reasonable luggage area. Looking to keep for about five years. Which would you recommend from a list of Peugeot 2008 110 & 130, Mazda CX 3 & Renault Captur ? Is there a better make / model I should consider ?

The 2008 with the 1.2 Puretech 130 engine should be excellent, especially if you can also get it with Grip Control. I'd add the new Suzuki Vitara to your list. New 1.4 petrol turbo 4WD arriving next month that's 127g/km and 52mpg.

As Peugeot have discontinued their 1.6L VTi Auto engine, do you think it likely that they are going to bring out a new version on the 2008?

Spacious interior. Feels like it's built to last. Economical engines including hybrid power from 2022.
