Nissan Qashqai tailgate handle issues

The tailgate handle on my four year old Nissan Qashqai broke, and in my view the fixing is a poor design and not fit for purpose. There are many instance on the web where owners have had similar experiences. I have written to Nissan requesting that they reimburse me the cost of the repair, but they state that they will not and do not accept that the fixing is inadequate. Apparently my only action would be to pursue this with the dealer I bought the car from, when the fault has nothing to do with them. It seems to me to be grossly unfair that manufacturers are allowed to get away with issues like this.

Yes, a lot of complaints about this. The plastic becomes increasingly brittle as the cars age. If the dealer you bought the car from does not accept responsibility you would have to sue him. Would be smart of Nissan to develop a new moulding this does not happen to, even if it wasn't body colour and then simply replace them as they break.
