Why do online sales brokers have such long delivery times?
I tried to buy a car from an online broker. They quoted a very good price, but with an 8-week delivery. My lease car went back after six weeks but I thought it was worth the hassle of being without a car for two weeks for the saving, so I paid a £500 deposit. After eight weeks I emailed to ask about the delivery and was told that they had trouble with their dealer and the car was not going to appear, but for an increased price of £650 they could order another one which would be delivered in 10 weeks. My question: do you have a big stick I can beat them with?

To be fair to them, the waiting times are largely out of their hands. Many manufacturers are quoting waiting times of at least 10 weeks and, if you're buying an Audi, you may not see the car until February next year. Many buyers who have bought direct from a dealer have contacted us with similar experiences. The price rise is almost certainly out of their hands, too. But you don't have to buy from them. Shop around the brokers, or check out someone like Motorpoint - you won't have to suffer long waiting times then, either: www.honestjohn.co.uk/best-deals/new and www.honestjohn.co.uk/deals/?dealer=Motorpoint
