Gearbox oil ratings?
I wanted to know if there is a difference between EP 80 and EP 80W. Or EP is just an additive in the usual oils with grades W for extreme pressure?

The EP is indicating as you said that it is Extreme pressure oil normally used in transmissions etc. The W is indicating that it is a winter grade, suitable for cold climates.
So the only difference is that the W is indicating suitable for cold climates.
