Ongoing Land Rover Discovery problems

We bought a 59 plate Discovery 4 from a franchised dealer with a 12 month warranty and service pack, approx. 13/14 months ago. The car has suffered from engine and gearbox problems for the last 7-8 months of warranty and despite dealers attempts to fix in warranty, problems persist outside warranty. I worry about my wife driving an unreliable car and following the fifth occurrence of engine and/or gearbox faults I am losing faith in it. Can I reject the car or do I have to allow dealership to persist with attempts to fix it? The car was 50k miles on purchase and it now has 75k miles.

I don't think you can successfully reject the car because the faults you complain of started after you had owned it for 6 months and there is no way of proving they were present in the vehicle on date of sale and thereby invoking Clegg v Olle Andersson 2003, especially since you have put 25,000 miles on it. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ I think the way out is to p/x the car for something more reliable, like a Sorento or a Santa Fe.
