What five mid-sized cars should I consider?
Four years ago I bought a Toyota Avensis Tourer which is now coming to the end of its five-year warranty and I’m thinking of replacing it. What I’d like is something a little smaller. I’d like petrol, a bit more power, comfort, good load-space, reliability, reasonable running-costs, parking sensors (or TV) front and back. Ability to tow 1200kg could be useful.
Could you suggest, say, five cars I should look at, please?

I drove both the Auris Touring Sport (which is the UK's Corolla) and the Avensis Tourer a coupe of weekends ago and the Auris is smaller and lighter. It's a bit like comparing an Octavia estate to a Passat Estate. Test of the Auris Touring Sport here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-auri.../ But a year old, the choice is the previous model Auris TS, Octavia Estate (very solid), Golf Estate, Leon ST and Civic Tourer. I'd probably go for the Civic 1.8 i-VTEC Tourer.
