I need a comfortable load lugger?

I am a big guy with lots of stuff and need an SUV to go on the motorway. Reliablity, comfort and power are important. Running costs less so. I have narrowed choice to 39k mile, 2012 X5 40d M Sport from BMW App Used - 1 yr warranty and 14k mile, 2014 RX450h App Used - 2 yr warranty. I am mindful of future 'moves' on diesel and the fact the X5 threw a lot of 4X4 and Transmission errors on the test drive. Promised it will be fixed prior to delivery. I'd prefer X5 by far but feel Lexus will just be utterly reliable and I will pour money into the X5.

You're probably right on all counts. That's the way I would feel. Never ever buy a complex car that shows a lot of faults on the test drive because that tells you the dealer doesn't care enough to fix them first.
