Need a small three-door car - any recommendations?

I need a small three-door car. I only need the front seats, but need space in the back for lots of painting gear. I also need something that is safe in bad, icy conditions.I have looked at the Suzuki Grand Vitara, but want something 2010-2014, nothing older than five years.

In that case a three-door SWB Grand Vitara would seem to be ideal. Has a side opening rear door and a low floor when the door is open. Tested here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/suzuki/suzuki-gran.../

This is an old test but the model remained in production until last year, losing, then regaining its spare wheel on the rear door.
