Can you recommend a reliable first car?

We need to buy our daughter's first car. Can you recommend something that's compact, but well screwed together?

The doors of Citroen C1s, Peugeot 108s and Toyota Aygos feel very tinny because that's where the weight was saved. They are solid underneath, but still not a lot of car around the people inside. Probably better to look at a slightly bigger Ford Fiesta 1.25 or a Yaris 1.33.
