Our car has hidden accident history - what are our rights?

We recently bought a 2013 Volvo XC70 D4 for £24,580 from a main dealer. After collecting the car we found a faulty fuel gauge and the car went to our local Volvo dealer for a warranty repair.

However, we've now been told that the car has significant damage from a previous accident. Subsequent investigation has found the car was previously owned by a salvage company - we suspect it was a unrecorded damage and repair.

The dealer has not have a similar car to exchange and they are also refusing to give us our old car back and refund our money. What are our rights?

These are your rights: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ If the garage that sold you the car bought it from a salvage company then they must have known it was damaged and under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 1998 this could be interpreted as a criminal offence. I strongly suggest you see a solicitor.
