Does my Golf have an alignment problem?

My Volkswagen Golf has just had its major service done at an authorised dealer. However I now find that:

a) The steering wheel is slightly to the left when I drive in a straight line

b) If I keep the steering wheel aligned perfectly in centre, the car moves to the left.

The dealer claims to have done nothing to cause this, but I can surely remember that I have driven with a perfectly aligned steering wheel before the service. Any thoughts on this?

It's dropped out of alignment when it was up on the hoist. Could be a problem with the strut top bearings. If sure they are okay then the only way to fix the problem is to have the suspension realigned with the wheels on the ground and the springs compressed.
