Best car for £2500 for towing?

I am looking at buying a car for around £2500 that is comfortable and practical. Ideally, I'd like a 2.0-litre diesel as I tow a trailer regularly. I've seen some Ford Mondeos, Volkswagen Passats and Mazda 6s. Which model is best?

Of these the Mondeo Mk III 2.0TDCI (2000-2007) is probably the best bet with the widest availablility of parts to fix it when it breaks down. See the entries at www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar Avoid the 2005-2011 Passat.
