What's wrong with my Ford Galaxy?
My 2007 Ford Galaxy 2.0 TDCI has developed a noticeable whistle from the turbo. It is not a split hose, nor is the intercooler split/holed. It has been to the local Ford garage and they have identified the turbo as the fault, but say the problem will take hours to investigate.
The worst case is £1500 just for a new turbo, plus the labour. However, the car is only work £3000. What is the likely consequence of running it like this?

Might be a hose. But if it's the bearing then eventually that will pack up and you'll have a non-turbocharged engine.
