Can you recommend a practical family car?

I am very frustrated and need some help choosing the right car and engine. I do mostly short trips through the day and require plenty of space in the boot as I am a shopkeeper. I also need enough space in the back for two kids and an adult. I am very concerned about purchasing a diesel with regards to DPF issues but also would like to have a nice car with a few added extras. What do you recommend?

So far, the best small capacity petrol engine is proving to be Peugeot/Citroen's 1.2 PureTech 110 and 130, as fitted to the Citroen C4 Cactus and the Peugeot 308 and 308SW. The Peugeot 2008 and Citroen C3 Picasso will eventually get it, but not until mid to late next year.
